Benefits

The Wi Pere Trust distributes a range of benefits to their beneficiaries as follows:

Distributions

A distribution of $30.00 per beneficial interest (share) is paid each year as follows:
$12 in December
$10 in February
$ 8 in June

Age Grants

An Age Grant of $200 is paid to all beneficiaries' 60 years of age and over. Applications should be made to the Secretary by 31 December each year.

Education Grants

Education grants are as follows:
Day students $100
Boarders $200
University and Tertiary Part time $175
University and Tertiary Full time $350
Applications should be made to the Secretary by 20 March each year.

Education Scholarship

The purpose of the Education Scholarships is to assist Wi Pere whanau to attend a tertiary institution to gain qualifications relevant to the Trust.

There are two new scholarships available each year for full time study, the scholarships are open to any member of the whanau who meet the criteria and are worth $3,500 per year.

Applications should be made to the Secretary by 31 December each year.

Tangi Grants

Tangi Grants of $400 are available for beneficiaries or their spouse and $200 for their children.
Applications should be made to the Secretary.

Rongopai Marae

Rongopai Marae of Waituhi is nationally renown and was established by Wi Pere's son Moanaroa for the Maori warrior Te Kooti. The marae land now resides in the name of the Wi Pere Whanau. Periodic grants are made by the Trust for insurance and maintenance.
